WHITE TIGER
ROAR!!!

FACTS
The white tiger is located in central India, and Siberia.White tigers are an Asian species, found from the frozen tundra of Soviet Far east, to south to the humid jungles of Malaya and Indonesia.
world.
- The White Tiger is a good swimmer, but a very poor climber.
- Like domestic cats, tiger claws are retractable. Tigers scratch on trees to serve as territorial markers.
- Siberian white tigers are the heaviest subspecies at 500 or more pounds (225 kg), with males heavier than females. The lightest subspecies is the Sumatran; males weigh about 250 pounds (110 kg) and females around 200 pounds (90 kg).
- Depending on the subspecies, the head-body length of a tiger is about 41/2 to 9 feet (1.4-2.8 m). The length of the tail is 3 to 4 feet (90-120 cm). The foot pads vary in size with age, resulting in inaccurate estimates when used in averaging their population.
- Tigers have round pupils and yellow irises (except for the blue eyes of white tigers). Due to a retinal adaptation that reflects light back to the retina, the night vision of tigers is six times better than that of humans. This advantage makes White tigers nocturnal, and allows them to hunt at night.
- No one knows exactly why tigers are striped, but scientists think that the stripes act as camouflage, and help tigers hide from their prey. The Sumatran white tiger has the most stripes of all the tiger subspecies, and the Siberian white tiger has the fewest stripes. No two tigers have the same pattern of stripes.
- The life span of tigers in the wild is thought to be about 10 years. Tigers in zoos live twice as long. click here for more info
REASON WHY ITS ENDANGERED
Tigers are a protected species all over the world. Even though it's completely illegal to hunt them, people are still poaching
these animals. The white tiger is wanted ; for their fur, for inbreeding, and because it is an genetic anomaly. There are only around 200 white tigers left in the world.
Current estimates put the world population of wild tigers to be around 5,000-7,000, the most numerous race being the Bengal race, distributed among some 18 tiger reserves in India, and accounting for over two-thirds of all wild tigers. During the last 100 years, merely 12 white tigers have been spotted in the wild in India; giving an approximate of 1 white tiger for every 10,000 normal pigmented (orange) tigers. The white tiger's origin was recorded in India during the start of the Mughal period from 1556 to 1605 A.D. The first "modern" case of a white tiger being captured was in 1915. He was caught by the local maharajah ( Indian native) who kept the tiger until its death. In 1960, a two year old white tiger in Rewa, Mohini,(Central India) was bought by a businessman from the US for $10,000 and given to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. On 5th December 1960, Rewa nature preservers appeared on the USA White House lawn with then president, Eisenhower. Rewa was used to try and breed more white tigers in the US with normal orange tigers, but her offspring had various physical defects. Another reason why white tigers are endangered includes deforestation. Deforestation or destruction to their habitat can cause these tigers to become homeless and not survive, because of no prey. When changes occur at a fast pace, there is no time for individual species to react and adapt to new circumstances. This can create rapid exinction of an species, and for this reason, rapid habitat loss is the primary cause of species endangerment. The main reason for rapid habitat loss are human beings. Nearly every region of the earth has been affected by human activity, including this past century. click here for more info

ENDANGERED WHITE TIGER
White tigers are an endangered species that is getting hunted to a point of almost extinction. Many zoos and animal protection societies are taking the initiative to try to stop poaching of the tiger.
WAYS TO PROTECT THE WHITE TIGER
Some ways to protect the white tiger include to adopt a tiger at the big cat rescue site (which will be shown in a link below). You can chose to donate as much money as you want. You can chose to adopt how many white tigers you want no matter the cost. Some other ways you can protect white tigers is by not harming their habitat, but by trying to protect their enviroment. Also You can visit a nearby national park or nature reserve. Some national parks have special guided tours and walks for kids like you. You can find out information by asking the rangers to find out whether there are any threatened species such as the white tiger and how they are being protected. You and your friends could try to help the rangers in their conservation work. Tell your family, friends and co workers about the white and how you can help them. You can start group dedicated to protecting a threatened plant or animal in your area or perhaps to help care for a national park. click here for more info

In this picture shows a deformed tiger that was exposed to chemical waste in its habitat, this is one example of how tigers have become endangered and threatened.
